With more than 50 years of professional experience, Mr. McKinzie is a prominent and respected leader in the legal industry whose accomplishments are vast. Currently serving as the president and chief executive officer at Triangle Therapeutics since 2015, he formerly acted as chairman of the board of trustees at St. Johns Health Care Foundation and the chief executive officer of Firstfed Financial Corporation from 2010 to 2013. In addition, he has been a lawyer with several esteemed firms, including Bingham McCutchen, Riordan & McKinzie, and Nossaman, Guthner, Knox & Elliot.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. McKinzie has been a special adviser of the Providence St. John’s Health Systems Board since 2014 and a trustee of the board of directors of St. John’s Health Center since 2007. Civically, he has served on the board of directors of Sofio Biosciences, Inc., since 2014, The Welk Hospitality Group since 2004, the Riordan Foundation since 1992, and Rx for Reading since 1992. Likewise, he has maintained affiliation with several industry-related organizations, including the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, the American Bar Association, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments in law, Mr. McKinzie was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Award from the School of Law at Southern Methodist University in 1994. He has also received myriad community service awards for his civic service throughout his career. Mr. McKinzie holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration from Texas Tech University, as well as a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Southern Methodist University.
