Carol Barbara Haight, a Retired Lawyer, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in legal services.
Inspired by one of her professors, Ms. Haight decided to become a lawyer because she wanted to make a positive change in society. She worked hard to achieve her goal, gaining hands-on experience as an associate of Pepper, Hamilton & Scheetz, an associate of Hodgson, Russ, Andrews, Woods & Goodyear, and a corporate counsel of Eilink Corp. She also spent more than a decade at the head of her own private practice in Boca Raton, Fla., where she focused on commercial and construction law.
Outside of the firms, Ms. Haight was active as a mediation instructor, pro bono speaker, and consultant. Some of her notable roles include founding director of the Mediation Educational Service, contributor of articles to professional journals, presiding judge at the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida, and member of the Pennsylvania Bar and the Florida Bar. Additionally, she was on the steering committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Delaware and the outreach national subcommittee of the Christ Church in Florida.
Ms. Haight prepared for her endeavors by earning a JD from Widener University in Delaware in 1984 and both a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and a Bachelor of Social Work from Widener University in Pennsylvania in 1980. She then became admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Florida, the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. Further, she obtained certification as a Florida Supreme Court mediator and an American Arbitration Association arbitrator. Since 2014, Ms. Haight is a Friend of the St. Lucie County, Rupert J. Smith Law Library. This library gives the general public access for legal research and encourages equal access to the law.
In recognition of her efforts, Ms. Haight was honored with the American Jurisprudence Award and inclusion in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, and Who’s Who of American Women.
