Passionate about affecting positive change in the lives of his clients, students and the field of law, Mr. Clary has excelled in his career. In addition to working for Fox Rothschild, LLP, since 2016, Mr. Clary has been affiliated with the University of Minnesota. He was hired as the legal writing director for the University of Minnesota Law School in 1999, and has been a clinical professor since 2000, previously holding the positions of director of applied legal instruction from 2004 to 2016 and Vaughan G. Papke clinical professor of law from 2004 to 2006. He has also been involved with the Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly law firm, serving of counsel in Minneapolis from 2000 to 2015, partner in the St. Paul and Minneapolis branches from 1982 to 2000, and associate in St. Paul from 1975 to 1981. Furthermore, he has been an adjunct professor and adjunct instructor for William Mitchell College Law, in St. Paul, MN, from 1995 to 1999 as well as an adjunct professor for the University of Minnesota Law School from 1985 to 1999. Sharing his expertise with others, Mr. Clary has written, or co-written, “Complex Litigation,” “Successful Legal Analysis and Writing: The Fundamentals,” “Successful First Depositions,” “Advocacy on Appeal” and “Primer on the Analysis and Presentation of Legal Argument.”
Bettering any group with which he is affiliated, Mr. Clary is a member of numerous organizations. He has been a life fellow of the American Bar Foundation since 2015, and an elected member of the American Law Institute since 2009. He has also been involved with the Minnesota Bar Association for many years, starting when he held the position of program chairman for the antitrust section of the organization from 1986 to 1987. He was treasurer of that section from 1987 to 1988, vice chairman from 1989 to 1990, and co-chairman from 1990 to 1992, and also served on the governing council of the appellate practice section from 2001 to 2006. Mr. Clary also holds membership with Phi Beta Kappa. He considers his ability to simplify complicated issues to be a talent separating him from others, as he has spent his career representing clients in general commercial litigation matters and focusing his practice on antitrust and healthcare litigation as well as advising companies in joint ventures and mergers before federal and state agencies. Renowned for his success, Mr. Clary has received the Outstanding Contributions to Graduate and Professional Education Award from the University of Minnesota in 2018 and has been featured in multiple editions of Who’s Who In Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
