A.B. Conant, Jr., Lawyer, Entrepreneur and Small Business Owner, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in trial law and business ownership.
Growing up, Mr. Conant was introduced to the field of law through his father’s work. He was impressed by their breadth of knowledge, their interests and the passion they had for their work. Ultimately, these mentorships lead to Mr. Conant selecting a career in law. After working in law for more than 42 years, he retired from practice in 2004. Prior to retiring, he was a partner at Conant French & Chaney, LLP, and had previously worked at Conant Whittenburg French & Schachter, Whittenburg Whittenburg and Schachter and Shank, Irvin, Conant, Lipshy & Casterline. From 1981 to 1989, he was the owner of the ABC Ranch. After retiring from law, Mr. Conant became the owner of AAA Storage. He retired fully in 2017 and spends his free time with family and traveling.
With his early introductions to the field of law, Mr. Conant pursued the field academically first at the University of North Texas. In 1961, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in the field. He continued his education at Baylor University, receiving a JD, cum laude, in 1963. That same year, he was admitted to practice through the State of Texas and the United States Tax Court. In following years, he was admitted to practice via the United States District Court for the Northern and the Southern Districts of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth, Fourth, Third, Seventh, Second, Tenth and Eighth circuits. Furthermore, he was admitted to the United States District Court for the Western and Eastern Districts, as well as the Supreme Court of the United States. He was board certified in Texas Trial Law through the Texas Board Legal Specialization.
Mr. Conant served in the US Marine Corps Reserve from 1957 to 1963. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Library at Cedar Creek and has previously been a trustee of St. John’s Episcopal School. Throughout his career, he maintained professional affiliation with such organizations as the American Bar Association, the Baylor Law Alumni Association, Phi Delta Phi, the Texas Bar Foundation, the University of North Texas Alumni Association, the Henderson County Bar Association, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Omicron Delta Kappa and a number of other institutions.
