J. David Andrews, senior counsel at Perkins Coie, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in trial law and labor relations.
With more than 55 years of professional experience, Mr. Andrews has been senior counsel with Perkins Coie since 1997. In this position, he represents clients in the areas of labor and employment law and litigation, representing management in both the public and private sectors. He has worked with major companies as well as more than 125 small companies, nonprofits, and school districts. Prior to obtaining his current role, Mr. Andrews was a partner with the firm from 1961 to 1996.
Mr. Andrews knew from an early age that he wanted to be a lawyer. He began his career as a student at the University of Illinois, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1955. He continued his studies with the school, earning a Juris Doctor, with honors, in 1960. Mr. Andrews has been admitted to practice in the state of Washington, as well as before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Western and Eastern Districts of Washington.
A leading voice in the field, Mr. Andrews has been affiliated with numerous professional organizations in relation to his areas of expertise, including as the president and member of the board of directors for American Bar Insurance Plans Consultant, Inc. The former president of WH Law Firms, he has been affiliated with the Washington Law Fund, the American Bar Endowment, and the University of Puget Sound Law School. A former trustee of the AEF Pension Fund, Mr. Andrews was on the board of visitor for the Illinois College of Law, and on the board of directors for the Endowment for Equal Justice.
An active member of his community, Mr. Andrews has made it a goal to help women and minorities advance in the legal field. He has been a member of the board of directors for the Leukemia Society of Washington, and the president and on the national board of directors for the Leukemia Society of America. Mr. Andrews previously served as a captain in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1957.
Attributing his success to hard work and associating with the right people, Mr. Andrews has been recognized throughout his career for his contributions. He holds an AV Rating with Martindale-Hubbell, and he was the recipient of the Washington State Bar President’s Award and the Goldmark Distinguished Service Award from the King County Bar Foundation.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Andrews plans to spend time reading, traveling, and spending time with his grandchildren.
