Charles W. Culkin Jr., Retired Executive Director at the Association of Government Accountants, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in financial management.

An esteemed figure in the field of accounting, Mr. Culkin amassed more than 35 years of professional excellence prior to his retirement in 2003. The former executive director of the Association of Government Accountants in Washington, DC, from 1997 to 2003, he formerly served as the senior assistant director of the U.S. General Accounting Office for 27 years and an assistant auditor at the United Virginia Bank for three years. Alongside his primary endeavors, he was previously the treasurer, director, founder, and incorporator of Reston Commuter Buses, Inc., from 1971 to 1978.

To prepare for his celebrated career, Mr. Culkin pursued a formal education at Benjamin Franklin University, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in 1968. He has since been certified as a government financial manager. In addition, he has contributed several articles in professional journals and previously served as the publisher of The Journal of Government Financial Management from 1997 to 2003. Alongside his primary endeavors, he is also a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, having been acting as the financial secretary of council #15332 since 2011.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to finance and his community, Mr. Culkin has been honored with several accolades from the Knights of Columbus, including being named Family of the Year from 2012 to 2015 and Knight of the Year from 2004 to 2005, 2007 to 2008, and 2011 to 2012, and he was the recipient of the Sir Knight of the Year Award from 2010 to 2011. The winner of the National President Award from the American Society of Military Comptrollers in 1999 and 2003, he also won the President’s Award from the Association of Government Accountants in 1992 and from 1995 to 1996. In addition, he has been presented with numerous awards from the Benjamin Franklin University Alumni Association, such as the Distinguished Alumni Award in 1995, the Board of Governors Service Award in 1992, the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1992, and the Outstanding Leadership Award in 1991.

Married to Carolyn Franklin since 1974 with two children, Mr. Culkin has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the South and Southwest, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
