Judge Thomas David Roti, Judge at the Circuit Court of Cook County, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the legal industry.
Amassing more than 45 years of professional experience in the field of law, Judge Roti has served the Circuit Court of Cook County as a mentor since 2005 and honorable judge since 2000. Prior to these appointments, he held the roles of vice president, assistant general counsel, and general counsel at Dominick’s Finer Foods, Inc., an associate at Boodell, Sears et al., an associate at Arnstein & Lehr LLP, and a senior law clerk to Judge Frank McGarr of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Judge Roti was a former trustee of the National Conference on Community and Justice, member of the legislation committee of the Illinois Retail Merchants Association, and member of the national conference lawyers and economics committee of the Food Marketing Institute. Locally, Judge Roti acted as the director of Chicago Clean Streak, a member of the Chicago council of the EDU-CARE Scholarship Program, and a trustee of the Joint Civic Committee on Italian Americans.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Judge Roti pursued a formal education at Loyola University Chicago, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1967 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1970. During this time, he additionally served as a major in the Quartermaster Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1967 to 1983. He was subsequently admitted to practice law by the Illinois State Bar, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
A contributor of several articles to professional journals, Judge Roti has maintained membership with several organizations in his industry. Affiliated with the Chicago Bar Association, the Illinois Bar Association and the Justinian Society of Lawyers, he was co-chair of the civil practice committee of the Public Services Award in 2011, on the nomination committee and board of trustees of the Illinois Judges Association Foundation from 2007 to 2008, and on the board of governors of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association from 2006 to 2008. Likewise, Judge Roti was on the board of directors of the Illinois Judges Association from 2005 to 2011 and board of governors and as director of The Catholic Lawyers Guild of Chicago from 2004 to 2007.
In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the legal industry, Judge Roti has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. He received the Mock Trial Special Service Award from the Northwest Suburban Bar Association in 2015, the American Jurisprudence Award in 1970, and the Alumni Association Award from Loyola University Chicago in 1970. Notably, he has been highlighted in several editions of Who’s Who in Finance and Business, Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
