A senior partner and lawyer at Loomis Law Firm since 1966, Mr. Davis has amassed more than 50 years of professional experience in his field. In his position, he focuses in real estate law, business and corporate law, estate planning, healthcare law, retirement plans and employee benefits, taxation, and sports and entertainment law. Prior to these appointments, he was a lawyer at Kirkland & Ellis.

Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Davis has served his community in a number of capacities, including as president of the Lansing Chamber of Commerce, chair of the regional board of the Eli and Edith Broad Art Museum, and a member of the board of directors of the HOPE Scholarship and the Lansing Promise zone. Mr. Davis was also the founder and former trustee of the Lansing Community College Foundation, the Opera Company of Mid-Michigan, the Legal Aid of Central Michigan, and the Okemos Education Foundation.

To prepare for his celebrated career, Mr. Davis pursued a formal education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, earning a Bachelor of Science in history in 1960. He subsequently attended Harvard University, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws in 1964. He has been admitted to practice law in the state of Michigan. The author of “The Purposive Approach to Interpretation of Sales Tax Statutes” in the Ohio State Law Journal in 1966, Mr. Davis has been a frequent presenter in the field in programs associated with the Ingham County Bar Association, the Institute for Continuing Legal Education, and other various business and professional groups on tax matters and state planning.

A leading voice in his field and community, Mr. Davis has maintained affiliation with several organizations, including as a member of the delegation sent to other former eastern bloc countries in 1990, a member of the delegation sent to the former USSR in 1989, and a member of the delegation sent to China in 1987. The chair of the regional Art Museum, he has also been a member of the executive committee and chair of the Lansing Economic Area Partnership, director and former chair of the Boys and Girls Club of Lansing, chair of the Regional Blue Ribbon Panel on Retention at General Motors, and former member and chair of the Board of Education of Lansing Public Schools. The past chair of the board of directors of the Impression Five Museum, he is further associated with the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, and the Ingham County Bar Association.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to law, Mr. Davis has accrued several accolades during his impressive career. He was the recipient of the Promise Community Champion Award by Lansing Promise and the Community Service Pioneer Award by the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2017. Named one of the Best Lawyers in America and a Preeminent Lawyer in 2017, he was also presented with the Leo A. Farhat Outstanding Attorney Award by the Ingham County Bar Association in 2014 and the Greater Lansing Business Monthly Entrepreneurial Award in 2013. In addition, he was the corecipient of the Capital Region Community Foundation’s Outstanding Philanthropist Award in 2012, the recipient of the Dorothy Beardmore Service to Education Award in 2004, and the Greater Lansing Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen Award in 2003.

Likewise, Mr. Davis was honored with the Distinguished Citizen Award by the Chief Okemos Council with the Boy Scouts of America in 2001, the Lansing Education Foundation’s Outstanding Alumni Award in 1991, and the Distinguished Volunteer Attorney Award by Ingham County Bar Association in 1991. Furthermore, he received the Man and Boy Award by the Boys and Girls Club in 1989 and was named a Super Lawyer, a Lawyer of Distinction, a Leading Lawyer, and a Top Lawyer. In addition, he has been elected a fellow of the Michigan State Bar Foundation.
