Duane Schultz, Of Counsel at Watkinson Laird Rubenstein, P.C., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in education law.
Mr. Schultz has practiced law for nearly five decades, exhibiting a grasp on the legal field which has benefitted hundreds of clients throughout the years. For a number of these years, he has provided his first rate services as a counsel of the Oregon-based firm, Watkinson Laird Rubenstein, P.C. In addition, he has supplemented this career as a legal counsel of Arizona State University, a position he has been dedicated to since 1984. Prior to these engagements, Mr. Schultz has served as an associate at Wade, Nelson of Josephine County, OR, at Hunter, Bartlett, Penn & Lerch in Phoenix, AZ and as a senior attorney at the Phoenix Legal Aid Service.
With an interest in the practices of law stemming from an early age, Mr. Schultz first attended Cornell College, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in 1967. He followed up this degree with a JD from Arizona State University in 1970. The same year, he was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. He was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Oregon upon relocating to the state in 1974.
In recognition of his work, Mr. Schultz was honored with a Top Lawyer award in 2015. Furthermore, in 2017, he received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Since 1980, he has served as the Director of the Executive Committee of the Oregon District Attorneys Association. He has previously been involved as the Class Agent for the Alumni Association at Arizona State University and as President of the Oregon County Legal Counsels Association. On top of these positions, Mr. Schultz has maintained affiliation with the American Bar Association, the National Association of College and University Attorneys and the National Organization on Legal Problems in Education.
