Thomas J. Reed, Esq., Law Educator at the Veterans Law Clinic at Widener University, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law and higher education.

With nearly 50 years of professional experience in the fields of law and higher education, Mr. Reed has served as a professor of law at the Delaware School of Law at Widener University since 1984 and as director of the Veterans Law Clinic since 2006. Prior to these appointments, he was the Taishoff Professor of Law at the Veterans Law Clinic from 2009 to 2011, associate dean at the Delaware School of Law from 1984 to 1993, and associate professor at the Delaware School of Law from 1981 to 1984. In addition, he spent five years as an assistant and associate professor of law at Western New England College of Law and seven years as an associate with Reller, Mendenhall, Kleinknecht & Milligan.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Reed pursued a formal education at Marquette University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1962. After serving in the U.S. Army, he found that delving into law was an optimal way of giving back to the community and helping other veterans. He subsequently attended the Notre Dame Law School in 1969, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence. He has been admitted to practice in the states of Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, as well as before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Third and Seventh Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.

A member of the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Indiana State Bar Association, Mr. Reed was honored with the Governor’s Lifetime Award for Pro Bono Service in 2017. He has also contributed a number of articles to professional journals and has served as a reporter for the Delaware Appellate Handbook since 1984. Notably, he was selected for inclusion into several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Education, Who’s Who in American Law, and Who’s Who in the World.
