With more than 45 years of professional experience in his field, Mr. Weatherup has been serving as a partner with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP since 2004. A member of the appellate practice, he specializes in legal malpractice defense, insurance coverage, and business litigation. Prior to this appointment, he served as an associate and partner of Haight, Brown & Bonesteel between 1972 and 2003. Alongside his primary endeavors, he has also served as a moot court judge for a number of academic institutions, including Loyola University, Pepperdine University, and the University of California, Los Angeles.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Weatherup pursued a formal education, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University in 1968 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the School of Law at Stanford University in 1972. He has been admitted to practice law in the state of California, as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States District Court, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Mr. Weatherup maintains affiliation with several industry-related organizations, including the American Bar Association, the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. In recognition of his exceptional achievements, he was listed as a Super Lawyer for Southern California in the area of appellate law in 2014 and 2016. In addition, he has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the West, and Who’s Who in the World.
