With more than 50 years of industry experience, Mr. Serchuk provides his refined legal services as a partner and chair of the Banking Practice Group at Pavia & Harcourt LLP. Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Serchuk served as deputy superintendent and counsel to the New York State Banking Department, special counsel to the New York State Senate Banks Committee, law clerk to U. S. District Court Judge Frederick van Pelt Bryan, and on the board of directors of several banks. He specializes in bank regulatory matters but also has extensive experience in the mergers and acquisitions, corporate, employment, and commercial lending areas. In his career, Mr. Serchuk has lectured for the Practicing Law Institute and with various trade associations and is frequently quoted in the financial press on current banking issues.
Mr. Serchuk prepared for a career in the legal field by first earning a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia University in 1957. He continued at the institution to receive a Bachelor of Laws in 1960. He has been admitted to the New York State Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Tax Court. A highlight of his career has been performing public service while working for the government. He has maintained affiliation with the New York State Bar Association and the New York City Bar Association.
