Constantine John Gekas, Managing Partner at Gekas Law Ltd., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in the legal industry.
With nearly 50 years of professional experience in the legal industry, Mr. Gekas has excelled in his field as managing partner of Gekas Law Ltd. since 2014. Specializing in litigation, appellate matters, business litigation, contract disputes, securities and investment fraud, construction and real estate litigation, and patent investorship matters, Mr. Gekas prides himself on his ability to deconstruct legal issues and present them to judges in a rational, simple manner.
Prior to his current engagement, Mr. Gekas was a managing partner at Gekas & Associates from 1997 to 2009, partner at Harvitt & Gekas Ltd. from 1985 to 1997, and he managed his own solo practice from 1984 to 1986. He also served as regional counsel to the central region of the Division of Enforcement with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission from 1980 to 1984, assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, DC, from 1976 to 1980, and associate counsel in the subcommittee on crime in the House Judiciary Committee with the U.S. House of Representatives from 1974 to 1976. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gekas acted as an attorney in the criminal division of the U.S. Department of Justice and an associate with Chadwell, Keck, Kayser & Ruggles from 1971 to 1972.
A leading voice in the legal industry, Mr. Gekas maintains affiliation with such organizations as the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Union League Club of Chicago, and the American Bar Association. In addition, he proudly served his country as a counterintelligence agent and military intelligence analyst with the Intelligence Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1969 to 1975. Mr. Gekas holds an AV Preeminent Rating with Martindale-Hubbell.
Mr. Gekas received a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Chicago and a Master of Laws in intellectual property from the College of Law at DePaul University. In 1970, he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the College of Law at the University of Illinois. He has been admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, the states of Illinois, Virginia, and Arizona, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth, Eleventh, D.C., and Federal Circuits, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Court of Federal Claims, and the U.S. Supreme Court. In addition, he has been admitted pro hac vice to several U.S. District Courts in Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin.
Attributing his success to the inspiration of his father, who practiced law in Chicago for 54 years, Mr. Gekas delved into his profession due to his father’s profound influence on him as a child. Married with two children and two grandchildren, Mr. Gekas looks toward the future and hopes to continue helping litigants resolve their disputes in a just and full fashion.
