Jill Nelson, Nurse Attorney, Health Care Consultant, Health Facility Administrator, Instructor, Researcher, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in health care law.

From an early age, Ms. Nelson has been driven by the single desire to help others. In the early stages of her career, she worked as a nurse, helping patients with their medical needs. After her interest was piqued in clinical trials, she took classes on contracts and felt she could continue making a difference in people’s lives as a lawyer, having the unique vantage point of working in the medical field and now working on the legal side. Her areas of expertise pertain to physician contracts, personal injury, and social security disability denial claims, as well as other facets of health care law. Throughout her career, she has consulting and directed programs, and has taught at Cuyahoga Community College and Baldwin-Wallace University.

Ms. Nelson earned an associate degree from Cuyahoga Community College, summa cum laude, in 1975, and that same year she was recognized as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio. She returned to her education to follow her developing interests and received a Bachelor of Arts from Baldwin-Wallace University, cum laude, in 1990. She then earned a Master of Business Administration from the institution before receiving a Juris Doctor at Case Western Reserve University in 1999. Ms. Nelson is a certified health care mediator, a certified compliance professional, and a certified professional coder.

Ms. Nelson has maintained affiliation with the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Health Lawyers Association, AAPC, the Healthcare Compliance Association, the International Association of Privacy Profiles, the West Shore Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society. She was an associate editor of the “Outpatient Cardiac Rehab: Tools and Best Practices for Reimbursement and Compliance” and “Health-Matrix: Journal of Law Medicine.” Looking toward the future, Ms. Nelson endeavors to continue working in her field as long as she is helping and protecting people in any way she can.
