A celebrated figure in the field of law, Mr. Stern has accrued nearly 40 years of professional excellence in his areas of expertise. A partner and attorney with Stern, Tannenbaum & Bell LLP since 2007, he specializes in the areas of litigation, real estate, financial markets, corporate executive services, estate planning and administration, and employment law. Prior to this appointment, he served as partner and head of the real estate department of Duane Morris LLP from 1996 to 2007, as an associate with Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP from 1992 to 1996, and as an associate with Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton from 1985 to 1992. Previously, Mr. Stern acted within the accounting industry for Laventhol & Horwath, holding the positions of audit supervisor from 1983 to 1985, senior accountant from 1981 to 1983, and staff accountant from 1979 to 1981.

Alongside his professional endeavors, Mr. Stern participates in a number of civic engagements, including as a board member of 3 Dag, Inc., since 2000 and a board member of 122 East 42nd Street Financing Corporation since 1998. Previously, he was a trustee for Westchester Hebrew High School from 2002 to 2006 and Young Israel of Scarsdale from 1998 to 2000. He has also provided pro bono work for the Lawyers Alliance for New York, the New York City Partnership, and for victims of the September 11th attacks.

To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Stern sought a formal education, first receiving a Bachelor of Science in accounting, cum laude, from Brooklyn College in 1978. He followed this accomplishment with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, magna cum laude, from the School of Law at Fordham University in 1985, graduating as valedictorian of his class. While pursuing his education, he was an editor of the Fordham Law Review. Mr. Stern has been admitted to practice law in the state of New York.

A respected voice in the legal community, Mr. Stern has contributed to articles in professional journals throughout his career. He was the author of “Real Estate Joint Ventures: Investors Still Focus on Risk” in the National Law Journal, “Non-Recourse Mortgage Loans: Borrower Beware” in the Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, and “Constructive Eviction, A Way Out or a Dead End?” in the Metropolitan Corporate Counsel. In addition, he has maintained affiliation with several industry-related organizations, including the Real Estate Board of New York, the Real Property Law section of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Real Property Law section and committee on commercial leasing of the New York State Bar Association, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

In recognition of his exceptional accomplishments, Mr. Stern has held the highest AV-Preeminent Peer-Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 2010, and has been selected as a New York Super Lawyer every year from 2010 to 2016. He also received the Chapin Prize as Valedictorian of his Law School Class at Fordham University in 1985. Married to Lydia Junger since 1983, Mr. Stern is the proud father of three children. He enjoys sports, reading, and traveling in his spare time.
