Michael Sydow, Owner and Attorney at the Sydow Law Firm, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in international litigation, entertainment, trademark and arbitration.
Mr. Sydow is engaged in a number of roles that utilize his experience and knowledgeable skill set in the field of law. In 1993, he opened the doors to the Sydow Law Firm and has continuously practiced in this manner. In 2004, he was tapped to become the Chief Executive Officer of Texas Syngas, A Houston-based energy company dedicated to producing low cost and environmentally-conscious energy. Mr. Sydow has practiced law for more than four decades, and began his career as a trial attorney for the Office of the General Counsel of the United States Navy in 1976. At the tail end of the 1970s, he worked for Firm, Eastham, Watson, Dale & Forney and from the late 1980s at Firm, Hagans & Sydow, LLP. After a few years in private practice, Mr. Sydow joined Firm, Reynolds & Sydow, LLP and became an associate of shareholder at Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson & Hand.
Mr. Sydow took both the law school admission test and the medical school admission test and scored in the top 1% of the law school admission test so he decided to go to law school rather than medical school. He first earned a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern University in 1973 and continued at The University of Texas at Austin to receive a JD in 1976. He is admitted to practice among the United States District Court for the Western, Eastern, Southern and Northern District of Texas, the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the State of Texas. In addition, Mr. Sydow is certified in civil trial law with the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. In 1990, he was recognized with the President’s Award from the Houston Bar Association.
One of the many career achievements Mr. Sydow has been proud of was becoming Michael Jackson’s general counsel. His clients and their goals are of utmost importance to him to represent them fully. Throughout his career, he has maintained affiliation with the Maritime Law Association of the United States, the Houston Bar Association, the Texas Bar Foundation and Phi Delta Phi. Looking toward the future, Mr. Sydow endeavors to continue helping clients in their matters pertaining to international litigation and arbitration, entertainment law, international trademarks and licensing, as well as international trade.
