Mr. King is distinguished for more than 50 years of practice in the field of law. Soon after earning a JD and receiving admittance to the bar, he started working for Lewis Thomason from 1965 to 1979, returning to the firm in 1981, where he still currently provides quality legal services. In the intervening years between his stints with Lewis Thomason, Mr. King served as the Commissioner of Revenue for the State of Tennessee. Furthermore, from 1981 to 1989, he was a board member of the Tennessee Housing Development Agency. In his first 13 years as a lawyer, he worked in civil trial, and when he returned to Lewis Thomason, he explored his skills in handling land use and development and zoning. He had served as a cabinet member to the governor in 1979.
Mr. King endeavors to continue practicing and serving his clients with the best possible means. He prepared for a career in law by first earning a Bachelor of Science from The University of Memphis in 1962, and followed the degree up with a JD in The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, which he received in 1965. That same year, Mr. King was admitted to practice before the United States District Court Northern District of Tennessee. In 1970, he was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He has maintained affiliation with the Nashville Bar Association and the Knoxville Bar Association.
Throughout his career, Mr. King has been recognized for his many career achievements. He is most proud of successfully representing minority shareholders against Busch Brothers Beans Company and also representing the National Geographic Society as a claimant. Mr. King has previously been featured in several editions of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law and Who’s Who in the World.
