Encouraged to pursue law by two of his uncles, who were prominent New York lawyers, Mr. Wacks has thrived over the past 50 years. He has served as managing member of Wacks, DeBona, Beilin & Weber and as past counsel of the Borough of Rockaway in the Township of Allamuchy. Although he is currently semi-retired, he hopes to maintain his practice at least one day a week because he enjoys meeting people and working in law too much to ever fully retire. Mr. Wacks’ concentrations include estate planning and administration, the taxation of estates, real property transactions, trusts for persons with disabilities, elder law, and legal matters involving closely-held businesses, family businesses, and real property ownership by businesses. He attributes his longevity and positive reputation to listening to his clients and helping them clearly understand the situation at hand.

Mr. Wacks prepared for his career by earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 1964 and a JD from Rutgers School of Law, Newark, in 1967. He was admitted to the Bar of New Jersey in 1968, the Supreme Court for the United States in 1981, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

A leading expert in the field, Mr. Wacks is a member of prominent professional organizations including the Better Business Bureau of New Jersey, the Estate Planning Council of Northern New Jersey, and the Center for Professional Responsibility for the American Bar Association. He has also held several leadership positions, such as like chair of the Real Property Probate Trust Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association, chair of a New Jersey state-chartered commercial bank, president of the Morris County Bar Association, and general counsel of the Morris County section of United Way of Northern New Jersey. Additionally, Mr. Wacks has served as a member of the District X Ethics Committee for the Supreme Court of New Jersey, on the advisory board of a New Jersey commercial bank, and as the owner and member of the board of directors of a New Jersey title insurance agency. Additionally, he has authored articles for professional journals, including the Wisconsin Law Review.

Throughout his career, Mr. Wacks has been recognized for his achievements, having been included among the Top 1 percent of America’s Most Honored Professionals in 2016 and the Top 7 percent of Wealth Managers in New Jersey. He was granted the Client Satisfaction Award by the Elder Law Division of the American Institute of Legal Counsel in 2016, and he was honored as a New Jersey Legal Leader by the Wall Street Journal in 2015, by Super Lawyers in 2011, as a 2011 Five Star Wealth Manager in 2010, and as an AV-rated lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell since 1973.

In his spare time, Mr. Wacks enjoys gardening flowers and vegetables, photography, and listening and attending classical music concerts. He is an overseer of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the co-chair of the Planned Giving Committee of the Walter Piston Society of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and a trustee of the Walter F. & Alice Gorham Foundation.
