Shandrick, LLC, since 1989, she formerly worked as an instructor of estate management for paralegals at Kaplan College from 2001 to 2002 and as an assistant city attorney for the City of Aurora, Colo., from 1985 to 1987. In her current practice, Ms. Shandrick focuses on special needs trusts in estate planning, estate planning for the elderly and public benefits, guardianship and conservatorship, probate of estate, and trust drafting and administration.

In preparation for her career, Ms. Shandrick first sought formal education, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in biology from the University of Colorado in 1982. She followed this accomplishment with a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the School of Law at the University of Colorado in 1987. She has since been admitted to practice before the Federal District Court, the Federal Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit, the United States Supreme Court, and the Colorado Supreme Court.

A respected voice in her field, Ms. Shandrick maintains affiliation with several industry-related organizations, including the Denver Senior Coalition, the Academy of Special Needs Planners, the Northwest Denver Council for Seniors, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She is also associated with the Colorado Bar Association, Elder Law Answers, and the Trusts and Estates Section and Elder Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.

Ms. Shandrick has presented at numerous conferences in the field of law and published a number of articles in professional journals to share her knowledge with her community. In 1992, she penned “The Family Business: An Exempt Resource for Medicaid Eligibility” in the Elder Law Report, as well as “Spousal Impoverishment” and “Appeals of Medicaid Determinations” in the Colorado Handbook of Elder Law. She has presented such speaking engagements as “Marshalling Assets” and “Protecting Assets While Qualifying for Medicaid” at the National Business Institute, as well as “Assessments for Married Couples” at the College of Law at the University of Denver in 2001, and she presented “Advanced Planning for the Family Business” before the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

Alongside her professional endeavors, Ms. Shandrick is active in her local community, serving as the president of the Augustana Foundation with the Augustana Lutheran Church from 2008 to 2011. She attributes her success to her determined work ethic and dedication to her field, believing that no one should forfeit their dreams and goals. Throughout her career, she has continuously attended law classes to educate herself on the changes within her fields, always remaining on top of the competition. Named a Top Professional Woman by Who’s Who publications, Ms. Shandrick enjoys cooking, painting, playing piano and rescuing animals in her spare time.
