Since 1997, Ms. Koppa has practiced law as a circuit court commissioner and register in probate for Manitowoc County, WI. Prior to this position, she excelled in private practice and as an associate at Muchin, Muchin & Bruce. She began practicing law after earning a JD from the University of Wisconsin in 1984, and was admitted to the state bar in 1985. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1982. Ms. Koppa is also admitted to practice with the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin.
In addition to her work in public service and private practice, Ms. Koppa has served on the Wisconsin Register in Probate Association Forms Committee since 2006, also serving as the association’s president and secretary. She was the chair of the Association Forms Committee from 2008 to 2011, and was a member of the Forms, Records Management Committee of The Wisconsin Supreme Court. Furthermore, Ms. Koppa has been involved on the Board of Directors for the Bankruptcy and Creditor Rights Section of the State Bar of Wisconsin and as a member of the Chapter Seven Trustee Panel with the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
Ms. Koppa became involved in her profession after being told at a young age that she had potential and could go anywhere. Growing up in the 1970s, it was unusual for women to pursue a career in law, but she felt supported by her family who had instilled a good work ethic in her. The highlight of her career has been being an integral member of the team behind the Guardianship Reform Act that was passed in Wisconsin in 2007. Looking toward the future, she intends to continue working hard in the field of law.
