Michael D. Brown, founding partner at Ohrenstein & Brown LLP, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in corporate and insurance law.
An esteemed figure in the legal industry, Mr. Brown has accrued nearly 50 years of professional excellence in corporate and insurance law. The founding partner of Ohrenstein & Brown LLP, established in 1983, Mr. Brown and his firm specialize in commercial litigation, insurance and insurance litigation, business counseling, and government relations. Prior to this appointment, he was an attorney for a distinguished program from 1987 to 2012 and an associate with Weil, Gothshal & Manges from 1970 to 1973.
To prepare for his celebrated career, Mr. Brown received a Bachelor of Arts from Beloit College, followed by a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the School of Law at New York University in 1970. He has been admitted to practice by the New York State Bar Association. In addition, he maintains affiliation with several industry-related organizations, including the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the New York County Lawyers Association.
Alongside his professional endeavors, Mr. Brown has participated in a number of civic engagements, including as co-chair of the Corporate Committee of the Nassau County Museum of Art, member of the American Heart Association, and member of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation. Mr. Brown aspired to be a lawyer from a young age ever since he watched “The Verdict is Yours” on television when he was in the third grade. He attributes his success to Maurice Negeri, the former special prosecutor in New York, as well as his college professors, Warren Mills and Douglas Broome, who aided Mr. Brown in his journey to law school.
In recognition of Mr. Brown and his firm’s exceptional achievements, U.S. News & World Report LP named Ohrenstein & Brown LLP as “One of New York’s Best Law Firms” in 2016. Married with four children and four grandchildren, Mr. Brown enjoys watching baseball and football and playing golf in his spare time. His favorite sports teams are the New York Mets and New York Jets.
