Becoming an attorney is something that Mr. Kane would have never imagined while he was in college studying electrical engineering. However, he discovered he could be socially helpful while applying his engineering knowledge if he pursued the field of law. Mr. Kane first earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University with highest distinction in 1967. He continued at the institution to receive a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1968. He then studied law at Indiana University, earning a JD in 1975.
Since 1989, Mr. Kane has been a senior partner at Bingham Greenebaum Doll, LLP. Prior to joining this firm, he was a general counsel and Chief of the Permits Section at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Furthermore, he served as a legal adviser for the Indiana State Board of Health, and was also a senior project engineer and project engineer for General Motors.
Mr. Kane is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. Throughout his career, he has contributed to a number of industry papers and journals. He has been honored with the 2017 Best Lawyers in America award for Environmental law. Since 2014, Mr. Kane has been recognized as an honoree in environmental law by Indiana Super Lawyers.
