Patrick Cantilo, Partner at Cantilo & Bennett, L.L.P., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in insurance and financial law.
Mr. Cantilo became partner at his firm in 1999, bringing more than two decades of experience in law to the position. He had previously served as partner of Rubinstein & Perry, counsel at Freytag, Perry, LaForce, Rubinstein & Theofan and partner at Davis, Cantilo, Welch & Ewbank. Mr. Cantilo was also an associate of Davis & Davis Professional Corporation and Counsel to Receiver with the Texas Department of Insurance. Through these positions, as well as his legal education, Mr. Cantilo possesses the skills and experience to serve his clients in matters pertaining to insurance and financial law.
Mr. Cantilo immigrated to the United States in 1965 when he was a child. Seeking better opportunity, he worked hard at his education, earning a Bachelor of Arts from The University of Texas at Austin in 1977 with honors. He continued at the institution to receive a JD in 1980. After being admitted to the state bar he began working in the field. Throughout his career, Mr. Cantilo has been admitted to practice with the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
Since 2009, Mr. Cantilo has been an honoree of one of the Best Lawyers in America with Super Lawyers. He has also served as the chairman of the financial subcommittee and the HMO advisory committee for the Texas Department of Insurance. Mr. Cantilo contributed to “The Perfect Receiver” from 2010 to 2017. He has been involved with a number of organizations, including the Society of Insurance Receiver’s Charter Principal, the Austin Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the National Association of HMO Regulators, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and the Austin Young Lawyers Association.
