Mr. Ott took up his current role after serving as a contract attorney in Seattle and San Francisco, and served the firm of Jamin, Ebell, Schmitt, & Mason in the ‘90s before joining Kamai. His practice is mainly criminal law, though he also handles family law, estate planning, estate administration, business set-ups, and contract disputes. He was also presented with an honorary doctorate from the University of Graz in Austria, and is admitted to practice in the states of Washington and Alaska, as well as the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Washington and in Alaska. In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Ott has also been a consultant of OMNI Tech. Engineering, and in one of his early cases worked on litigation for the plaintiff class action committee of the Exxon Valdez oil spill. After working the case from 1989 to 2008, the five billion dollar verdict was the highlight of his career, and set him up for many years in delivering the recovery to approximately 28,000 clients who had a claim to the verdict.
In his civic sphere, Mr. Ott is a legal adviser for the Kodiak Team Corp youth group, and a trustee of the Kodiak Arts Council.
