Mr. Messinger has been a partner at his firm since 1976, and is a former member of the executive committee at Thompson Hine as well as former partner-in-charge, serving from 1991 to 1996 in the role. He has been recognized numerous times for excellence in the law, notably as 2015 Lawyer of the Year of Securities/Capital Markets Law, as well as recipient of a 2011 Malvin E. Bank Award and a 2011 Jurisprudence Award from ORT America. Mr. Messinger is also a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert, and holds a Marquis Who’s Who Humanitarian Award as well as an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award.

Born in Lyons, New York to Donald H. and Thelma Messinger, Mr. Messinger earned a BA from Colgate University in 1965 and completed a JD from Duke University in 1968. He entered practice with Thompson Hine in 1968 as an associate, and earned the role of partner in 1976. He was named vice chairman of the corporate practice group from 1989 to 1992. Mr. Messinger has also held a seat on the board of directors of the American Steel & Wire Corporation and Lee Wilson Engineering Company, serving as secretary for both. He was on the board of directors of the Cedar Fair Management Company from 1993 to 2002.

Mr. Messinger has appeared in the pages of Who’s Who in Finance and Industry, Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World, and the first edition of Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America. Outside of the law firm, he has supported the Cleveland Pops Orchestra as its chairman since 2015, and has been the class vice president of the Boy Scouts of America since 2007. Mr. Messinger is a member of the Court Nisi Prius, and a trustee of the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center as well as the Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland, among many civic roles over the years. He is the proud father of Michael David, Robert Stephen, and Daniel Mark with his wife, Sara L. Stock.
