Thomas William Cranmer, Lawyer at Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Law.
Mr. Cranmer has been the managing partner of his firm since 2010, and principal since 2005. He was a partner of Miro, Miro & Weiner, now Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, from 1984 to 2005. Mr. Cranmer transitioned into the private sector in the ‘80s after working in numerous positions for the U.S. District Court and Oakland County in Michigan. He is the recipient of a 1996 Distinguished Service Award from the Oakland County Bar Association, and a 1995 Leonard R. Gilman Award from the Detroit chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Mr. Cranmer is also a recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in the pages of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who of Emerging Leaders in America.
Born to William Eugene and Betty Lee Cranmer, Mr. Cranmer studied at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and earned a JD from Ohio Northern University in 1975. He entered practice as an assistant prosecuting attorney of Oakland County and transitioned into a post as assistant attorney of the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan in 1978. After serving as assistant chief of the criminal division until 1980, he went on to the private sector as both a lawyer and a faculty member of the Attorney General’s Advocacy Institute in Washington.
Mr. Cranmer is currently an affiliate of the Trial Advisory Workshop at the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, which he joined in 1988, as well as an affiliate of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy. He has been a hearing panelist of the Attorney Discipline Board since 1987. Among numerous awards, Mr. Cranmer was named 2008 Practitioner of the Year by the Oakland County Republican Party. He has been a member of the board of commissioners of the State Bar of Michigan since 1998, and a trustee of the Oakland Bar Foundation since 1994, among numerous legal society memberships. Mr. Cranmer is a recognized fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers.
