Mr. Wicklund has leaned toward trial work in the latter half of his career, and has worked in business and intellectual property litigation. He has been a partner of his firm since 1981 after starting there as an associate in 1974. Mr. Wicklund grew up with the prospect of studying either business or law, settling on law as the more attractive profession. He is now AV Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, and was honored as one of the Best Lawyers in America from 2009 to 2017.
Born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Wayne Glenwood and Elna Katherine Wicklund, Mr. Wicklund attended Williams College to earn a BA, cum laude, and completed a JD, cum laude, from the University of Toledo in 1974. As a student, he became editor-in-chief of the Law Review at the University of Toledo, and later returned as an adjunct instructor of law in 1988. Mr. Wicklund joined Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick in 1974, and made partner in 1981. He is a former president of the College of Law Alumni Association and member of the dean’s advisory board at the University of Toledo, and sat on the board of governors for the antitrust section of the Ohio State Bar Association from 1994 to 2001. Since 2009, he has consecutively received acknowledgment in intellectual property law, trust litigation and commercial litigation from Best Lawyers.
Mr. Wicklund is a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and recognized as a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert. He has appeared in the pages of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the Midwest, and Who’s Who in the World. He has supported the antitrust section, the civil practice and procedure committee, and the business tort and unfair competition committee of the American Bar Association. Mr. Wicklund is also a member of the Toledo Bar Association, and was honored as one of the Best Lawyers in America from 2009 to 2017. He married Susan Marie Bubenko in 1973, and is the proud father of David Jr., Kurt, and Edward.
