Carl M. Bornstein, Esq., Principal at the Law Office of Carl M. Bornstein, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in Law.
Mr. Bornstein has led his own law firm for many years while serving the New York metropolitan area in everything from public prosecution to education. He is proud of being appointed by and reporting to the inspector general of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey as the integrity monitor for the more than $3 billion construction of One World Trade Center for seven years, from 2007 to 2014. Mr. Bornstein currently teaches as an adjunct for the public administration masters program at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice, and is a member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy in the Northeast region at Hofstra University.
An alumnus of New York University and the Brooklyn Law School, Mr. Bornstein has served with the U.S. Army Reserve as a member of the military police corps, and entered the field of law as an assistant district attorney in Bronx County, New York, becoming chief of the Rackets Bureau from 1972 to 1973. He went on as deputy chief assistant district attorney in Queens County, and was a special attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice in the Organized Crime and Racketeering Section for the Southern and Eastern District of New York. Mr. Bornstein was a prosecutor of the New York City Criminal Justice System for four years, and began teaching in 1993 with the ABA National Trademark Trial Advocacy Institute. He is AV Rated by Martindale Hubbell and a member of the commercial and federal litigation section of the New York State Bar Association since 2015.
Outside of the courtroom, Mr. Bornstein has been selected by the National Association of Inspectors General, now the Association of Inspectors General, as a conference co-presenter in 2012. He was a panel moderator in 2005 for the First Conference on Democracy and Global Security in Istanbul, Turkey, and has performed numerous editorial roles for the Brooklyn Law Review of the Brooklyn Law School. Mr. Bornstein has been a member of numerous New York City committees and societies, notably as co-founder and chief operating officer of the Fortress Monitoring Group.
