Mr. Stern has been director of his firm since 2000, and held title of of-counsel for the firm from 1997 to 2000. He has also offered his services as counsel for a number of Ohio area commissions and cases, including asbestos litigation, combustion engineering, Ohio Ethics rules, and other legal matters. Mr. Stern is also a prolific civic contributor as the president of the city council of Bexley, Ohio and a member of its civil service commission. He is a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in American Politics, Who’s Who in the Midwest, and Who’s Who in the World.
Born to Leonard J. and Anastasia S. in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Stern attended Williams College and graduated cum laude from Ohio State University, staying to earn a JD, summa cum laude, in 1968. He was the senior editor of the Ohio State Law Journal of the Moritz College of Law at Ohio State. Mr. Stern was admitted to practice in Ohio and later to the Supreme Court of Ohio. He entered practice as an associate of Ebinger, Holschuh & Fisher in Columbus, and became a partner of Folkerth, Calhoun, Webster & O’Brien from 1972 to 1980. He worked for 13 years as a partner of Arter & Hadden, and was of disciplinary counsel of the Supreme Court of Ohio for four years.
In civic duty, Mr. Stern has taken on the title of trustee of Creative Living, member of the Ohio Citizens Committee for the Arts, member of the National Defense Committee on Asbestos in Buildings Litigation, and public member of the Ohio Optical Dispensers Board. He was named 2017 Top Ethics Lawyer of the Year, and received the honor in 2014 and 2015. He holds a 2015 Weir Award for Statewide Distinction in Ethics and Professionalism from the Ohio State Bar Association, and has received numerous other awards, including lifetime fellowship with the American Bar Foundation. Mr. Stern is the proud father of two children and three stepchildren, and is the husband of Barbara Feuer.
