Mr. Belt comes from three generations of lawyers, and today he teaches anti-trust law as well as unfair and deceptive practices in law as an adjunct at the Quinnipiac University School of Law, concurrently with his ongoing practice. He joined Jacobs et al in 1974 as a partner, and was an associate of the predecessor Jacobs, Grudberg, Belt & Dow PC from 1970 to 1974 in New Haven, Connecticut. Mr. Belt has also worked with the firm of Hurwitz, Sagarin, Slossderg & Knuff LLC in Milford since 2001. He is a recipient of the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and has appeared in Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the East, and Who’s Who in the World.

Born to David Homer Belt and Mae Jean Belt in Wheeling, West Virginia, Mr. Belt attended Yale University to earn a BA in 1965. He earned the rank of first lieutenant with the U.S.  Army Reserve and served in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement. Back at Yale, Mr. Belt earned a LLB in 1970, and has been admitted to practice in the state of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and the U.S. Supreme Court, in addition to a slew of U.S. District Courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Mr. Belt continues to contribute to legal literature as senior topical editor of antitrust and trade regulation for the Connecticut Bar Journal, and co-authored “Unfair Trade Practices” in 2003. He was named one of the Best Lawyers of America every year since 2003, and earned a 2009 Local Ligation Star from Benchmark Ligation, as well as inclusion with the 2003 America Leading Lawyers for Business from Chambers USA. He is a fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation and the Connecticut Bar Association. Mr. Belt married Caroline Annmarie in 1967, and is the proud father of David Clifford and Amy Elizabeth. He has four grandchildren, Kathryn, Quinn, and Emery.
