Mr. Jones has been of counsel of Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith since 1992, and has offered his services as a private practice attorney in California since 2001. He was a founding partner of Bonne, Jones, Bridges, Mueller & O’Keefe in Los Angeles, which operated from 1961 to 1989. Over his prolific legal career, Mr. Jones has built a reputation as an excellent trial lawyer, recognized by Orange County, California as the 2014 Defendants Trial Lawyer of the Year. He is the recipient of an Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, and was named a Marquis Who’s Who Industry Expert. Mr. Jones is featured in the pages of Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the West, and Who’s Who in the World.
Born in Fargo, North Dakota to Harold Gilbert Jones and Charlotte Viola Jones, Mr. Jones attended Yale University and worked on postgraduate courses at Michigan University before joining the U.S. Army, serving from 1950 to 1952. He completed a JD from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1956, and became a partner of Overton, Lyman and Prince in the City of Angels for five years. It was not long before he co-founded his own firm, where he practiced up until the cusp of the ‘90s. In 1990, Mr. Jones officially accepted the of counsel title from the firm he helped to found, which he held until joining Lewis, Brisbois, Bisgaard & Smith in 1992.
As a trial lawyer, Mr. Jones’ acumen was recognized by the American Board of Trial Advisors, which presented him with a 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award and a 1999 California Trial Lawyer of the Year honor. He was consistently named to Best Lawyers in America, and has held numerous memberships with legal societies, notably the national board of directors of the American Board of Trial Advisors, where he has held a seat since 1977. Mr. Jones is an avid sailor, and was honored with a 1985 Blue Water Cruising Award from the Los Angeles Yacht Club. He is the loving husband of Julie Squier, who passed away in 2014.
