John Thomas Hundley, President of Sharp-Hundley, P.C., has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Lawyers for dedication, achievements, and leadership in law and business.
As president and partner of the law firm of Sharp-Hundley and its predecessor since 2004, Mr. Hundley takes on the roles of both executive and legal practitioner. He is an expert litigator with a focus on creditors’ rights, alternative dispute resolution, transactional matters, administrative proceedings, equitable remedies, and enforcement of judgments. Mr. Hundley is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois and the 7th Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals, as well as the U.S. District Court in the northern, southern, and central districts of Illinois and the northern district of California.
Born in Abilene, Kansas to Thomas Woodrow and Hazel Annabelle Hundley, Mr. Hundley studied with the University of Illinois and earned a JD from DePaul University in 1979. He first practiced with Mayer, Brown and Platt in Chicago, and became a partner in 1986. In 1994, he partnered with Hundley and Brusslan in Chicago, after becoming a sole practitioner for four years, and returned to private practice from 1997 to 2003. He joined Sharp Law Firm in Mount Vernon in 2004, which added his name not long after.
Though Mr. Hundley has traveled extensively for law, he has given his time to the civic groups in his sphere, notably as secretary of United Church Hyde Park in Chicago and as former treasurer and lay leader of Grace United Church in Park Forest, Illinois. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association, and is a former director of the board of the DePaul University Law Alumni Association. Mr. Hundley is the proud father of Amy Frances, Joseph Andrew, and Julia Hazel alongside his wife, Sally Jean Hensold.
